What happens when a Niagara wedding planner ties the knot? Some pretty vineyard romance.
Jennie and Joe met on a blind date that resulted in love at first sight. Joe proposed on the beach, recreating their first date, and they were married on the third anniversary of that fateful first meeting surrounded by 150 of their closest friends and family in Fenwick, Ontario. Jennie wore a stunning Sottero and Midgley mermaid lace gown with a cathedral-length veil, paired with leopard print pumps that match the bride’s personality perfectly! And we have Stec Photo to thank for these lovely shots.
Joe and I met on July 27th, 2010. They say opposites attract… Joe is a Farmer and I was a City Girl. After a year of dating, my son and I moved out to the country. Shortly after, Joe recreated our first date and proposed on the beach which also became the location for our engagement photos. It was such a thoughtful proposal. We went bowling, played air hockey and pool. Then we went through a Haunted house and on our way home we stopped at the beach for a walk. As I said, our first date was in July where it is normal to take a walk on the beach. The night Joe proposed was in November… not beach walking weather. I almost ruined his proposal by not wanting to go for a walk in the middle of a November night. He ended up having to throw me over his shoulders and carry me to the beach where he proposed to me under the stars with the water crashing along the shore beside us. Joe and I were wed on the 3 year anniversary of our first date, July 27th, 2013 at St. Ann’s Church in Fenwick, Ontario surrounded by 150 of their closest friends and family. This quaint little church now marks where 3 generations of Dobrucki’s have been wed. This church also happened to be the same church that the grooms great aunt and uncle got married exactly 50 years ago on that very day. I was wearing a Sottero and Midgley mermaid lace gown with a lace cathedral length veil coupled with a pair of Betsey Johnson leopard print pumps! The aisle was decorated with a custom aisle runner with our names and wedding date and was lined with mason jars wrapped in lace and filled with flowers that were hung on the pews by ivory ribbon. My bouquet was wrapped in my grandmother’s rosary and I wore Joe’s grandmother’s earrings. Both grandmothers had passed away a few years ago and this was my way of having them there with me. I was given away by my father and my son who was also the ring bearer. The rings were kept in an antique pocket watch carried in my son’s pocket. He enjoyed playing with the pocket watch so much that I was petrified he was going to lose our rings! The flower girl was Joe’s daughter. She wore a beautiful baby’s breath headpiece and carried a sign that read “Here she comes Daddy”. During the ceremony we invited up our children for a sand ceremony to symbolize the uniting of father and daughter with mother and son to create a new family together.
After the ceremony, the guests were sent on a Winery tour of 4 local wineries that led the way from the ceremony location to the reception. Once guests arrived at Hernder Estate Winery in St. Catharines they were taken on a tour of the winery. Unfortunately on our Wedding day it was raining. So the cocktails, passed hors d’peuvres and live music that were supposed to be enjoyed outside on the gorgeous stone patio had to be enjoyed indoors. Guests were surrounded by an elegant champagne, ivory and gold décor with hints of bordeaux accents. Being a wedding planner in the wedding industry for years, I knew exactly how I wanted our wedding to look. The head table was two tiers with a sweetheart table at the top decorated with ivory ruffles and a lace overlay with a cake table to match. The tables were topped with beautiful champagne coloured beaded lace overlays. Half of the centerpieces were tall wrought iron candelabras topped with beautiful floral arrangements of succulents, vendela roses, sweetness roses, dahlias and hydrangeas. The other half were lanterns in varying sizes filled with candles and surrounded by bubble vases of flowers and succulents. The father/daughter and mother/son dance was done at the same time and was interrupted halfway through by our 2 children who cut in to finish the dance with us. The wedding cake was a delicious Tiramisu cake surrounded by white chocolate by Criveller Cakes and topped with a WillowTree topper that included the our children. Our favourite night time snack is Nachos. So obviously a nacho buffet was included in the midnight buffet along with a candy bar. Despite the rain putting a damper on things, it was an absolutely beautiful day that will be remembered forever. The Vineyard Romance theme with colours of Champagne and Bordeaux was taken right into the honeymoon where we travelled to Italy to drink wine in the beautiful Chianti countryside.
