A short description of what you do. HONOR Beauty is a team of 20+ professionally trained hair and makeup artists located across the Niagara Region. We provide eco-conscious Brides and their wedding parties with flawless hair and makeup looks in the comfort of their desired location. We come fully equipped with the most amazing, long-lasting cruelty-free products with vegan options too!
How long have you been working in the wedding industry? Paje Honor has been a hair and makeup artist in the industry for 12 years. HONOR beauty was founded in 2012.
What makes your business unique? We are known in the area as one of the first hair and makeup companies to use 100% cruelty-free hair and makeup products. We also have a large clientele who are vegan and are able to provide them with all vegan products. Our team of artists is also quite large, reaching over 20 freelance stylists and makeup artists this year, which means there isn't a wedding party too large for us to accommodate!
Favourite part of your business? I love the reaction of Brides when they look in the mirror for the first time. When they tell me they've never felt so beautiful, all while still feeling like themselves. It warms my heart every time and I don't think I could ever get sick of hearing that!
What inspires you? Whenever I need a pick me up or need to feel inspired, I always find myself wanting to emerge myself in nature, it's good for the soul! Both the colours and the fact that when it comes to makeup and hair, there are so many ingredients that are safe and beneficial for our clients that come from nature.
Who is your mentor/hero in the industry? (your own industry or the Niagara wedding industry) I don't have a specific person/hero I look up to in the industry but I do have a great appreciation for other mothers and women entrepreneurs who are able to run a household as well as a successful business...It ain't easy!
On your day off...where would we find you? On my day off, I'm usually sleeping in, followed by the gym and then hangouts with my son Preston!
If you weren't a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? I'd 100% still be a hairstylist and makeup artist. I've always wanted to do this for a living, maybe I'd try my hand in the commercial/fashion industry a bit more if I wasn't in the wedding industry.
What great wedding trends are you seeing this year? I love that the colour of the year is ultraviolet. There are so many shades of purple, ranging from more neutral taupes to bold violets that are so flattering on all skin tones and eye colours. There are so many options to work with when it comes to the colour purple and makeup!
Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? Don't plan the wedding for anyone else but you and your partner, do what makes you happy. Less is more sometimes. You are getting married because you are madly in love, not because you have to impress anyone with the extravagance of your wedding.
