VENDOR SPOTLIGHT // INNA KROCHEK PHOTOGRAPHY

Today we are getting to know Swish List member Inna of Inna Krochek Photography! We can’t wait for you to know more about her story.

A short description of what you do: I'm a wedding and boudoir photographer who has a documentary, hands-off approach. I create experiences for my couples where they can feel free to be themselves, so they can actually be present and enjoy their wedding day.

How long have you been working in the wedding industry? I have been in the wedding industry for 4 years.

What makes your business unique? I’m not your typical wedding photographer. Forget about awkward poses, forced smiles, and picture-perfect clichés. The photos I create are reflective of the couples I photograph, I don't try to fit people into a mould.

Favourite part of your business? My favourite part is being privileged to get such an intimate look into someone's life, and the connections that they share with the people closest to them. I also really love being able to transform someone's experience with being photographed, most people feel awkward about having their picture taken so it's nice to see them feel comfortable and open up.

What inspires you? My greatest inspiration is cinema. The art of storytelling and the beautiful colours in films deeply influence my approach to how I tell a wedding story and how I edit my work.

Who is your mentor/hero in the industry? (your own industry or the Niagara wedding industry) My mentor in the wedding industry isn't just my mentor but also one of my closest and bestest friends, Liat Aharoni. She is the one who first introduced me to photography and saw something in me that I didn't yet see in myself. She has been so generous with her time and energy in helping me learn and grow as a photographer and is always inspiring me with the work that she creates. I love you Liat!

On your day off...where would we find you? On my day off you would find me outside or in the sauna depending on the time of the year!

If you weren't a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? Oh, that's a hard one cause I feel like I have the bestest job in the world and I'm truly living my dream life. But I also really love painting and drawing, so perhaps I would be a visual artist.

What great wedding trends are you seeing this year? One exciting wedding trend that has caught my attention this year is direct flash photography. This technique has such a cool Hollywood glamour look. I also find that direct flash particularly works well with my documentary style, since I don't need to worry about bouncing flash or carrying heavy equipment I can be super fast on my feet capturing candid fleeting moments.

Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? My advice for couples planning their wedding is simple: prioritize what truly matters to you. It's easy to get caught up in trying to please everyone else, but remember, this day is about you and your partner. Take a moment to reflect on your values, desires, and dreams, and give yourselves the permission to bring those things to life. Whether you envision an intimate elopement with just the two of you, you want your best friend to be the officiant, you don't want a big bridal party or wearing a non-traditional pink dress brings you joy, embrace what feels right for you both. This is your unique love story, and your wedding should reflect your personalities and preferences. Don't be afraid to break away from conventions and create a day that resonates with your true selves.
