A short description of what you do. Marsha’s Floral Design is a design studio in Niagara-on-the-Lake established by Marsha Howe. Dedicated to weddings and special events in the Niagara Region, Marsha’s style is full, fresh and natural, providing flowers for the bride and bridal party, ceremony, and reception. Services include complete floral decoration for any size event from dramatic to simple elegance.

How long have you been in working in the industry? Over 25 years.

What makes your business unique? Attention to detail and use of a wide array of fresh and local floral materials from Ontario’s premier suppliers. My career in interior design ensures optimum use of colour and space when working with clients to visualize the planning of their wedding or event.

Favourite part of your business. Sharing my creative passion with clients to ensure that their vision for their special day becomes a reality. Handling the floral material and interacting with superb suppliers is stimulating and gratifying; knowledge is the key to creativity.

What inspires you? Gardens; from small cottage gardens to large formal parterres.

Who is your mentor/hero in the industry? Martha Stewart's wedding empire was inspirational. Having met her some time ago was pivotal to my pursuit of wedding floral design.

On your day off…where would we find you? In the garden.

If you weren’t a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? This IS my dream job.

What great wedding trends are you seeing this year? Blush/taupe is by far the most popular colours for weddings, very loose boho styles. White Pampas grass is super popular. Garden roses as well (getting the flowers at the beginning of the week and letting everything blow right open is the look).

Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? By starting to think about floral options as early as a full year in advance of a wedding date allows you to see flowers and greenery that are in season and available and not simply drawn from Pinterest pages.
