TIPS FOR COUPLES WEDDING PLANNING DURING COVID-19

Hello, friends! We hope you are well and are staying healthy and safe while we navigate the crazy waters of the COVID-19 pandemic. We keep waking up hoping it was all a bad dream, and then it’s back to reality!

Today we thought we would share a few tips and thoughts, should you and your partner find yourselves stuck between a rock and hard place in making the decision on whether or not you should postpone your 2020 wedding due to the virus.

prioritize your vendors

An easy way to guide you with your decision on whether or not to postpone is by making a list of all the vendors you have already hired or plan/hope to hire and prioritize them from the most essential to you to the least. For most couples, the venue will be one of those vendors they couldn’t possibly imagine celebrating their wedding day without. Planners, photographers, and officiants are another vendor you may have selected based on a personal connection made and the amount of time that’s been invested in the relationship leading up to the wedding day. Once you determine your “must-haves” you can reach out regarding their availability, which will give you something to work from when considering and selecting a new date.

market saturation

If you are having a hard time determining your “must-have” vendors, you may want to approach your rescheduling planning by determining how saturated the market is for each vendor category. For example, in Niagara we have what feels like an endless supply of wedding vendors, however, our options are far more limited for officiants and planners, than they are for floral designers and photographers. You may have an easier time find an alternative option for one vendor over another, so selecting a date around those hard to find options may make life easier in the long run.

communication is key

We’ve shared this point before and we’re sharing it again: it goes without saying that having an open line of communication with your wedding vendors throughout the entire planning process is key to the success of your event, however, never has this been more vital than it is during this time. Ensuring you have reviewed all your contracts and have any questions addressed, specifically around cancellation policies and insurance, is going to be the best way to get ahead of unforeseeable situations in times when decisions need to be made in urgency.
