A short description of what you do: New Berlin Events is a full-service wedding planning studio. We believe that life is meant to be celebrated and our passion is seamlessly executing unforgettable experiences that bring people together in celebration of life’s special moments.

How long have you been working in the wedding industry? 10+ years.

What makes your business unique? We focus on a hospitality first approach with our clients. We believe hospitality isn't what it used to be and we want to bring that back. Key things you can expect when working with New Berlin Events are a stress-free and easeful experience from start to finish, a safe and inclusive space, and careful curation and attention to detail.

What is your favourite part of your business? My favourite part is taking a step back after the event has started and watching all the guests enjoy their day. It's a thrilling feeling standing on the sidelines knowing you helped make it happen.

What inspires you? Knowing that while I am a very small portion of someone's life, I get to leave a lasting impression on such an important day.

Who is your mentor/hero in the industry? Honestly, there are too many people to count who have mentored me, helped me, and inspired me. Being a part of the wedding industry as a whole is amazing but the Kitchener/Waterloo and Cambridge wedding industry is a tight knit group that really wants to see their colleagues thrive instead of fail. We believe in collaboration over competition.

On your day off, where would we find you? Reading a good romantasy book, watching reruns of Brooklyn 99 or in the summer I will be gardening or camping.

If you weren’t a wedding vendor, what would be your dream job? I love this question! I would love to work on movie sets building props. I love theatre and cinema and thing it would be such a rewarding and creative outlet.

What great wedding trends are you seeing this year? Monochromatic colours - red, brown and even jewel tones, unique bridal bouquets, singular florals (ie, all hydrangeas or all dahlias).

Do you have any practical advice for couples planning a wedding? My advice would be - remember that this wedding day is for YOU and YOUR PARTNER. Plan items that are going to make you smile, laugh and cry. Don't choose to do something to fit a trend or appease a family member. Always remember to go back to the basics of what will make you both happy. That is the point of a wedding is, love, joy, happiness and all the people who make you happy (even that's just you two on a mountain).
